Welcome to the RHS Online Program!

My name is Heather Farquhar. My husband and I are from small towns in southwest Iowa and I began teaching in 2000. After finishing my first year of teaching, we decided to move to Colorado. We had always known it was where we wanted to end up and the timing just seemed right. We landed jobs in Fort Collins in June of 2001 and that fall I began subbing in area schools. Before the end of the semester, I had accepted a teaching job at Milliken Middle School as the 8th grade Reading teacher. I loved it there so much, I stayed for 18 years!

Over 18 years, my husband and I bought a house in Milliken, which had and still has the small-town feel we grew up in.  We had our daughter in 2007. We now have two dogs and we love to spend time together as a family, regardless of the activity.

In the spring of 2019, the Online Coordinator position became available and I knew in my heart that it was time for a change. I was offered and accepted the position, knowing that it would in many ways be very different from the traditional classroom environment, but I was and am very excited about this new endeavor. Besides, for me, the best part about teaching is helping students feel successful, regardless of their age or the capacity in which I am guiding them.
