Online Program Success

perseverance.jpeg

Are you considering the online program?  Here are some things to consider . . .

  1. What is your "why"? What is your rationale for wanting to continue your education in the online program?

  2. Are you self-motivated? Are you able to set deadlines and meet them regardless of the work that has to be done to complete the task by the deadlines?

  3. Are you self-reliant? Are you able to rely on yourself to take care of all of your responsibilities.

  4. Are you willing to ask for help when you do not know what to do next or something doesn't make sense?

Successful students in the online program  . . .

  1. have a clear understanding of why they choose the online program over the traditional classroom.

  2. establish a weekly and daily routine for themselves which take into account, not only the time they need to spend on their online classes, but also the time they need to take care of their other responsibilities.

  3. understand that life happens and sometimes unexpected events get in the way of meeting their responsibilities. With that in mind, when there is an interruption to their schedule, their responsibilities are rescheduled rather than skipped.

  4. know that they do not have all the answers. As soon as they are unsure of anything related to their coursework, Edgenuity, the Online Program, RHS requirements, etc, they ask for help, clarification, instructions or guidance. You are taking control of your education, but you don't have to have all of the answers.

Unsuccessful students in the online program . . .

  1. assume that the online program is just an easier way to get a diploma.

  2. create no routine for themselves.

  3. insist that they will take care of their requirements "later".

  4. skip what they do not understand or look for shortcuts around the required activities that they do not want to complete.
